Featuring colourful footage of 1960s Inverness, join curator Shona Thomson for a fascinating look at how Scotland’s ‘touns’ have been portrayed on the big screen since the early 1900s, with a unique selection of films from the National Library of Scotland Moving Image Archive. The event includes a panel discussion with special guests around the issues raised by the films, many of which were commissioned by development corporations and tourism associations. How has the vision of a Scottish city changed for those of us who live in urban communities today?

On tour across Scotland, Made in My Toun is part of the BFI Britain on Film project, making thousands of newly digitised film and TV titles from archives across the UK available to view online: bfi.org.uk/britain-on-film
